2021 WORDMARK SPEA<\/span>KS TO WHAT WE\u2019RE ALL\u00a0<\/span>LONGING\u00a0<\/span>FOR<\/span>\u2013 WARMTH AND TOGETHERNESS<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n


\n<\/span>Saint-Boniface, MB<\/span><\/i>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/span>Voyageurs in 1815 were a hearty bunch, constantly adapting to changing circumstances and<\/span>\u00a0working as a team much like Manitobans ha<\/span>ve been doing over the past\u00a0<\/span>nine<\/span>\u00a0months.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Today,\u00a0<\/span>Festival du Voyageur<\/span>\u00a0announces plans for<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0safe,<\/span>\u00a0modified\u00a0<\/span>celebration\u00a0<\/span>in February<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with the release of the<\/span>\u00a02021 wordmark<\/span> designed by Jordan Stranger<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2021 WORDMARK<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to work with Jordan again this year because we loved what he created for the festival last year,<\/span>\u00a0a symbol of\u00a0<\/span>kinship\u00a0<\/span>between\u00a0<\/span>I<\/span>ndigenous<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>F<\/span>rancophone people.\u00a0<\/span>We want to cont<\/span>inue building<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>on this\u00a0<\/span>relationship<\/span>\u00a0that we fe<\/span>el Jordan represents beautifully through his art.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>H<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>invested himself personally in the festival, and that meant a lot to us,\u201d said Darrel Nadeau, Executive Director of Festival du Voyageur.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The entire logo is made to represent the Sacred Fire that\u2019s at every ceremony lighting our way and the warmth and closeness that so many are missing throughout the pandemic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the logo, I wanted it to be more about the warmth<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>space<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the culture<\/span>\u00a0and the energy that\u2019s always at Festival<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0said Jordan Stranger, designer of this year\u2019s wordmark.<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>And the energy at Festival is always amazing.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The people on either\u00a0<\/span>sides<\/span>\u00a0of the logo are<\/span>\u00a0distanced\u00a0<\/span>but with their arms open, ready to embrace when we are able.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The figure at the top reflects the element of the Creator from last year\u2019s logo but represented as a sun this year to bring out that warmth<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and the focus on the outdoors<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Holding the entire piece together is\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0canoe<\/span>\u00a0representing the trying times<\/span>\u00a0that we\u2019re all in together \u2013 navigating these new, uncharted waters.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Stranger is a visual artist who communicates the importance of life, culture and acceptance. His works are deeply rooted in the traditions within contemporary Indigenous culture. As an Oji-Cree individual, Stranger uses his life experiences to drive his artistic passions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
