{"id":42278,"date":"2020-01-21T12:01:48","date_gmt":"2020-01-21T18:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/heho.ca\/?p=42278"},"modified":"2020-01-21T13:16:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-21T19:16:58","slug":"bringing-traditional-inspired-high-end-metis-cuisine-to-festival-du-voyageur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heho.myhello.site\/en\/bringing-traditional-inspired-high-end-metis-cuisine-to-festival-du-voyageur\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing traditional-inspired, high-end m\u00e9tis cuisine to festival du voyageur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FESTIVAL DU VOYAGEUR AND ISHKODE PARTNER FOR A M\u00c9TIS CULINARY EVENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Saint-Boniface, MB <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Festival du Voyageur and ISHKODE Indigenous Cuisine Pop-up are partnering for six pre-confederation dinners around the theme of The M\u00e9tis Nation \u2013 A Journey in Time for the 2020 festival.<\/p>\n<p>Original ISHKODE chefs, Melissa &#8220;Urban Brownee&#8221; Brown, Glenna Henderson and Steve Watson, will be joined by new ISHKODE chef Rachel Sansregret. Chef Rachel has recently moved back to her hometown of Winnipeg after spending some time on the West coast. <\/p>\n<p>The dinners will run from February 14-16 and February 20-22 in the Old St. Boniface City Hall\u2019s La maison des artistes, a short walk from Voyageur Park.<\/p>\n<p>After a ground-breaking Indigenous dining event in October 2019, ISHKODE will continue to create cutting-edge culinary events. They aim to showcase a new generation of Indigenous chefs creating modern Indigenous cuisine. <\/p>\n<p>For generations, Indigenous peoples have worked toward building various platforms to showcase the beautiful traditions and teachings that have been passed down from generation to generation. ISHKODE incorporates Indigenous cuisine with traditional plants\/medicines and wild game that have fed Indigenous families for generations.  <\/p>\n<p>Educating and sharing knowledge is a core component of ISHKODE. Their mission, in all of their events, focuses on incorporating traditional and historical knowledge to give our participants an all-around culinary and learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are available for $99 and $149 with wine pairings (including gratuity) at <a href=\"http:\/\/ishkode.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ishkode.ca<\/a>. Along with the dinner, tickets include a Single-Day Ticket to the Festival du Voyageur for before and after the dinner.<\/p>\n<p>The ISHKODE Indigenous Cuisine Pop-up is a part of Festival du Voyageur\u2019s larger Indigenous initiatives. Festival du Voyageur is committed to giving space to Indigenous stories, arts, cuisines, and languages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Indigenous events to note include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Jaime Black, creator of The REDress Project, creating a new installation and live performance art piece<br \/>\n\u2022 Michif and Indigenous storytelling<br \/>\n\u2022 Indigenous Music Showcase in partnership with Indigenous Music and La musique francophone de l\u2019Ouest canadien<br \/>\n\u2022 Field Trip Sessions art installation and walk-though gallery with Roots Above Branches<br \/>\n\u2022 Indigenous Makers Market on Louis Riel Day<br \/>\n\u2022 Reading and conversation with In Search of April Raintree author, Beatrice Mosionier<br \/>\n\u2022 And much more\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Festival du Voyageur runs from February 14-23 in the heart of Saint-Boniface.
